Starting a community garden takes more than simple gardening knowledge. Find out how to start and sustain a community garden with the UF/IFAS Extension Pasco County Community Gardener Master Course. This course will be composed of four 4-hour sessions taking place over successive Saturdays.
We will cover topics such as how to create a mission statement, discuss waivers/safety, basic gardening, and how to improve soil quality. The tentative class schedule is as follows: January 6, 2018 – How to Create a Community Garden; January 13, 2018 – Vegetable Families and Different Gardening Techniques; January 20, 2018 – Composting, Garden Maintenance and IPM; January 27, 2018 – Harvest, Seed Saving and Preparing for Off Season. Course Fee of $200 (includes all materials). For groups of 5+ people employed with a 501©3, the public school district or a county government a $50 discount will be applied to each person.
