“It will be an event like you’ve never seen,” said committee member Megan Thorne, owner of Thorne Wellness and a 2-year member of the Wesley Chapel Lions Club, when asked about the “Dining in the Dark” event that is scheduled for Friday, May 17th from 6:00-8:00 PM at the East Lake Padgett Estates Club House located at 4533 Savanah Way, Land O’ Lakes, FL 34639
Guests will be blindfolded while they enjoy a guided dining experience. Although the Italian-themed dinner in the dark is intended to offer a fun and unique meal, there’s a serious side, too- guests will learn about some of the challenges that the blind deal with regularly as they go about their daily life, according to Wesley Chapel Lions Club founding member, Tom Mavor.
The Wesley Chapel Lions have a fun evening planned for their guests that includes a delicious 3-course meal with a vegetarian option prepared by 5 Loaves and 2 Fish Catering, a cash bar, Raffle Baskets valued at $25.00 or more, and a 50/50 drawing will be available for guests interested in taking a chance.
A $40.00 donation is requested for the meal and is all-inclusive for the dinner. “We only have seating for 70 people”, said new Lion Yvonne Wasson, “So we expect to sell out fast.” Tickets can be purchased from any Wesley Chapel Lion Member, on Eventbrite, or by calling The “Dining in the Dark Hotline” at (813) 461-4213.
All proceeds will be used to fund the Wesley Chapel Lions Children’s Vision & Reading Programs and a check presentation will be made to the Lighthouse for the Blind. “This is a great event for anyone who believes in the importance of vision and is interested in becoming part of a local civic organization that is making a difference in the Wesley Chapel community,” said Ted Whelan, another founding member of the Wesley Chapel Lions Club.
