Howdy! Just to give you a little feedback on November’s meeting, we had a Cowboy turkey cooked in a garbage can outside. The weather was so perfect, not cold and not hot, a little breeze kept us all comfortable. Twenty people enjoyed our picnic in the garden. Everyone shared their food and Thanksgiving by blessings of a poem, short story, and testimonies. I think that the early settlers and the natives did share their bounties at one time or another. It’s too bad that it was not an all time thing because not all of mankind are bent on harmony, peace, and friendship.
Remember to detoxify the metal garbage can one day prior by firing it up. When you pound a wooden stake slightly into the ground, wrap it with heavy duty aluminum foil. Slide your rinsed turkey onto the stake, then coat it with whatever’s your preference. Our son rubbed mayonnaise over it, and it was good. Then he put the can over it and started a fire around the outside perimeter of the can. To shorten the firing up process, I had purchased fire starter blocks, which I broke up in smaller pieces around the circle of the can and then added the wood chips and charcoal briquettes.
In no time at all, the fragrance of the meal plus sweet potatoes, fresh garden green beans, and all the trimmings activated our appetites to a high anticipation for the meal. Steve and I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Many food banks, charities, and churches were tremendously generous this year to the families and friends in many neighborhoods. Thanks! God loves you—John 3:16. Love to all and Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah!
