Odessa Soccer Club is open for registration for its inaugural season which begins Saturday, September 17 for boys and girls age 6 to 11. Odessa Soccer Club’s fall season offers a seven-game league play format ending with a championship tournament on the last Saturday of the season, November 12. All games and practices are held at 18105 Gunn Highway, Odessa, FL., on the beautiful campus of Keystone Prep High School.
“Our club is a little different than anything else offered in the area,” says League Commissioner Jim Young. “We offer an open league play platform where players are not required to try out. However, at the end of the season there is a championship tournament.”
League Director Young believes having a championship tournament at the end of the season adds a layer of competition to the league that you do not find in recreation leagues. The additional competitive aspect motivates players to develop more than they would in a recreation league.
“Players want to be on a competitive team, and our league allows all skill levels to compete since there are no try-outs,” Mr. Young added.
Odessa Soccer Club teams will practice on Saturday mornings before their games. According to Mr. Young, “players can immediately implement skills and techniques their coaches teach them by competing immediately after practice. Families will also enjoy not having practice during the week so they can spend time together, and children can focus on school work.”
