Our guest speaker for Sept 19, 2023 is Connie Vierbicky, past president of the Bradenton-Sarasota Rose Society.
Connie will discuss David Austin’s English Roses with a slide show, many of which were obtained directly from the Austin Nurseries in Shropshire, England. David Austin combined the flower form, fragrance and general characteristics of an Old Garden Rose with a wide range of colors and the repeat-flowering of a modern Hybrid Tea or Floribunda Rose. Having grown over 100 varieties of roses in pots as well as in the ground, information about growth habits and fertilization requirements will be provided as well as a handout list of the “must have’s” and “the dogs”. Members and guests are asked to bring questions and home-grown Austin roses to show.
