During the month of September, Feeding Pasco’s Elderly was the featured charitable organization at the Pasco County Tax Collector’s Office. Feeding Pasco’s Elderly is a volunteer-driven non-profit that is dedicated to serving the “hidden hungry” of Pasco County. The “hidden hungry” are primarily senior citizens who are homebound and who do not have family or other connections in the community to help provide for their basic needs.
Feeding Pasco’s Elderly is the fundraising arm of the county’s Elderly Nutrition Program, which includes the highly popular Meals-on-Wheels food delivery service.
It is estimated that 28% of the approximately 500,000 people who call Pasco County home are senior citizens. It is further estimated that one in six seniors, or 16%, do not know where their next meal is going to come from.
The Pasco County Tax Collector’s Office supports local charitable organizations that assist residents of Pasco County.
