I’m sure that you’ve noticed in recent years, we are living in a stressful society. For example, with the heavy growth in the Tampa Bay area, we all can see the increase in volume of traffic on the roads. This is just one of the factors that lead to anxiety without us even realizing it.
With that in mind, here are a few approaches to anxiety, and I think right now it’s best to focus on the easier, simpler, and positive things. I won’t be saying “avoid” or “don’t” with any of my tips. Whenever you feel some anxiety rising, try to recognize it and use that as a cue to step back and practice calming techniques such as:
• Focus on your breath
• Take some slow deep breaths, like yoga breaths
• Find a calming scent (candles, essential oils, tea, etc.) such as lavender or chamomile; choose natural fragrances instead of the chemical fragrances
• Take a walk or do other movement activities like yoga, tai chi, stretching, etc.
• Write about what you’re feeling; keep a journal
• Repeat a calming mantra or one that changes the thought pattern, such as “I’m in control” – or – “I’ve got this” – or – “I’m truly blessed” – or – “Jesus is on my side”
• Practice gratitude and start listing things you are grateful for; start a daily gratitude journal
• Look into some holistic modalities, such as massage therapy, acupuncture, REFLEXOLOGY. These can help to reduce stress and anxiety in a natural way, without drugs or chemicals
It’s helpful to practice and train your body to use these tools when you’re not feeling anxious or stressed. The more you practice relaxation and calming techniques, the easier it will be to use them when you feel that panic rising. and then your body will respond better to these techniques because it’s practiced them.
Go ahead and pick one to practice right now. You will feel better.
Wishing you many blessings for good health!
