Keep Pinellas Beautiful Second Nonprofit in Country to Showcase the BeBot
Keep Pinellas Beautiful (KPB), a Keep America Beautiful affiliate, announces Seagram’s Escapes, a fruit-forward, malt-based beverage brand, will sponsor the 2022 BeBot Beach Tour Cleanup and Demonstration Series across six local beaches in July.
This multi-location initiative will pair KPB’s cleanup events with an engaging demonstration of the BeBot, a cleaning robot, to educate beach visitors across Pinellas County. This quiet and respectful beach cleaning machine is set to tour our Pinellas County coastal communities, including Clearwater, Clearwater Beach, Dunedin, Gandy Beach, Madeira Beach, Redington Beach, St. Petersburg, St. Petersburg Beach, Tarpon Springs, Treasure Island and more.
Donated to Keep Florida Beautiful by Surfing’s Evolution and Preservation Foundation, a charitable organization that maintains healthy Florida beaches, the BeBot serves as a teaching tool to work alongside cleanup volunteers.
“Keeping Florida beaches beautiful means more sunshine, relaxation and fun for people who live, work and visit the area,” said Chuck Buckingham, Seagram’s Escapes Brand Director. “By supporting these coastal cleanup efforts, our Seagram’s Escapes team hopes to improve the quality of area beaches and essential waterways for our customers to enjoy across the state.”
The Bebot collects discarded small debris at the sand’s surface level under the remote control of trained staff. The eco-friendly companion removes litter such as fragmented plastics and cigarette butts that might otherwise go unnoticed. This new technology is a unique way to captivate beachgoer’s attention for an opportunity to educate them on litter prevention and waste reduction in honor of Plastic Free July. The BeBot’s purpose is not to replace volunteers but to visualize what debris is left behind on the beach. Volunteers can register for any event in this series at https://www.kpbcares.org/upcoming-events.
