Keep Pinellas Beautiful Kicks off the Great American Cleanup with Leaders Against Litter Pledge Signing and Cleanup Local Organization kicks off the 2022 Great American Cleanup, Keep America Beautiful’s Signature Beautification Event.
St. Petersburg, FL (Feb 2022) – Keep Pinellas Beautiful, your local Keep America Beautiful affiliate, is introducing our 2022 Great America Cleanup (GAC) with a press conference/cleanup event entitled, “Leaders Against Litter”. This cleanup will showcase our community leaders and elected officials “leading the way” in our charge against litter. Attending leaders will include, County Commissioner Charlie Justice, St. Petersburg Council Member Gina Driscoll, City of Oldsmar Council member Dan Saraki and Mayoral candidate, and Director of Visit St. Pete Clearwater director, Steve Hayes.
The purpose of this initiative is to raise awareness about how Florida’s pervasive litter problem affects communities. Over 40 community leaders have registered to observe the problem first-hand by cleaning up a local site and educating participants about the direct and indirect costs and damage caused by litter. Keeping Pinellas beautiful is a civic responsibility that rests equally on all of our shoulders.
