Hi! My name is Harley and today we are going to talk about ancient Egyptians. To give you a backstory, my school has Enrichment Days on Fridays. Last Friday, our book was The Giraffe that Walked to Paris, and the story was that Egypt and France weren’t getting along. The Pasha of Egypt wanted to send Charles X a gift. His ambassador said that the French had never seen a giraffe. So the Pasha sent the king his pet giraffe.
Eventually Charles received his giraffe in June. So we made two crafts for the story. One was a sketch of a giraffe and the other was an Egyptian collar (see picture). So, we are talking about ancient Egyptians. Well, this story was real and it happened in the nineteenth century, but we’ll talk about ancient Egyptians, as in 1500 or 1400 BC.
Did you know that both men and women wore makeup? And that Cleopatra was actually Greek? And most Egyptian pharaohs were overweight? ?
That’s pretty cool! Also, the Egyptians invented the 365 days a year calendar. But the coolest fact about Egypt is that God used Moses to save Israel from Egypt. He can save you too. You just have to ask Him to come into your heart. That means that you believe he died on the cross for our sins. But three days later he rose from the dead! So instead of thinking just about mummies when you think about Egypt, you can now think about your Father!
