Trials: James 1:3-5 says, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.”
Two Kinds of Wisdom: James 3:13-18 says, “Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. Such ‘wisdom’ does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, of the devil. For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial, and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.”
“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you.” — James 4:7-8
During these past 9 months of wearing masks in respect of others’ lives and my own, social distancing, wearing gloves while distributing the Gazettes, using sanitizer, and washing my hands after grocery shopping, I have had the opportunity to start each day with my cousin Elsie in Pennsylvania with a prayer and a Bible study that suits me up with the armor of God daily. These challenging times have brought me closer to Jesus and what it really means to be a follower of Jesus. I hope you join me.
In Christ, Kay
