Hope Needed
Client walked into the Tampa office with her 1-month old daughter. She appeared to be very sad, worried asked to speak with someone about her baby. I took her in my office and assured her she was safe here and our conversation would be confidential. She confided that she wanted to place her baby for adoption immediately. When she went into detail, I learned she had just lost her job, the father of the baby was nowhere to be found, and her roommate had just moved out. The baby did not have any clothing or diapers. The mom loved her so much that she said she couldn’t bear to see her suffer without clean clothing and diapers so she wanted another family to take care of her. I could tell she loved her baby and was heartbroken at the thought of giving her baby up, but she could see no other options.
I asked her if material items were readily available, could she provide the baby with love, shelter and food. She smiled and said, “of course! I love my baby and my 5-year-old daughter loves her and is so excellent with her!” I explained “Learning & Earning” program to her and assured her we can help with all her material needs. Her face turned from burdened and worried to relieved and happy! It was a beautiful sight. She signed up for our “Learning & Earning” program and left here with her stroller full of clothes, diapers, wipes, blankets, hats, etc. and hope for the future.
