Tax Collector Mike Fasano’s five offices will be collecting donations to help kids whose families may not be able to afford the back-to-school supplies required of all students. Schools in each community will receive the supplies soon after the promotional campaign ends.
“Each year, students are expected to purchase an ever-growing list of supplies to bring with them on the first day of school,” states Tax Collector Mike Fasano. “Gone are the days when a notebook, a pencil and some book covers, often made out of old shopping bags, were what most kids needed. Now, in addition to backpacks, earbuds, USB drives, and a variety of pens, pencils, tape, crayons, and other items, they are expected to buy supplies for the classroom as well. There are far too many families who struggle to provide for their own children, let alone provide towels, wipes, and items for other students to use. I am hopeful that our efforts will make the burden lighter for as many families and students as possible.”
Cash donations are preferred and can be made at any of the five tax collector locations in Pasco County.
