On May 5, 2017, Women-n-Charge, whose mission, in part, is to support and assist professional women in managing their businesses more effectively, awarded two grants. Each spring the organization gives two $1,000 grants to deserving women in business. These grants are made possible by the annual tea fundraiser held each fall. In 2016 our Event Sponsor was The Law Offices of Lucas Magazine and they helped us award the grant winners this year!
Thank you to our 2017 WNC Grant Judges for picking such worthy winners: Paula O’Neil (Pasco County Clerk & Comptroller), Lora Shipman (Founder & CEO, Keep It Local), and Brenda Cassato (Founder of Senior Information Resources).
The first grant was awarded to Anna Maria Orlando who is a volunteer chaplain for the Pasco Sheriff’s Office and coordinator of the annual Light Up the Night Human Trafficking Awareness Concert Event. Anna Maria plans to use the funds to hire an event coordinator to relieve some of the administrative burdens. She believes that this will help the team focus on the many other facets of the mission to eradicate human trafficking. Learn more at http://www.lightupthenighttampabay.com.
The second grant was awarded to Barbara Keithly, owner of Magnolia Manor Assisted Living. Magnolia provides 24/7 care to 53 residents in our community. The funds will be utilized to purchase new equipment for the kitchen, specifically, a new convection oven, soda machine and steam table. When the facility was built, Barbara bought used equipment that has seen better days! Learn more at magnoliamanoralf.com.
