It’s clear we live in a day and age where most people feel that if they were social media influencers their whole lives would change. I would know that because I was one of them. At the age of 15 I had gotten my first computer and soon discovered what it was like to receive love on the internet. It didn’t take long for my follower count to become how I valued myself. In the process of chasing the numbers, I had put my dignity, my values, and my relationship with my family on the line.
When I had finally achieved everything I had always wanted, it didn’t come with the joy and fulfillment I was fooled into thinking it would. I was now left on the top of this mountain I was climbing with nothing but shame, guilt, and regret. I had millions of followers but never felt more alone.
Over the next few months, continuing down the path of making more bad decisions that I thought were bringing me joy, I hit rock bottom. It was then that I was put in a position where I had nowhere else to look but up. It was nobody else but Jesus who grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the pit I had put myself in.
Everything this world has robbed from me, He has used for good and gave me back my childlike joy. I no longer value myself based on my follower count or how others feel about me, I put my value in Jesus and what He says about me. I now use my social media to share what He has done in me and will do for anyone who puts their hope in Him!
