Don’t get impatient! When we don’t see what we would like to see as quickly as we would like to see it, we get impatient. It’s natural to try to figure out how to get what we want more quickly. Whether it be more money, a different job, a spouse, a house. When it doesn’t happen as quickly as we would like, we then try to figure it out and lots of times, end up settling for second best.
There is a story in the Bible about a woman named Sarah who wanted a baby. She even had a promise from the Lord that she would get pregnant. But when it didn’t happen in her timing, she made it happen. She had her handmaid sleep with her husband. Her plan worked. Sarah’s handmaid got pregnant. A few years later Sarah did get pregnant just as the Lord had promised. But Sarah ended up resenting her handmaid and her handmaid’s son. Why? She settled for second best. She didn’t wait for the Lord to bring about His promise, and therefore had a constant reminder of her poor choices.
Don’t settle! Don’t get impatient! It robs you of the best.
Choose to be patient. It is a choice. By choosing to be patient you will lack nothing in the end.
In James 1:4, it reads, “And let endurance (patience) have its perfect work, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.”
Ask the Lord to help you while you wait. He will give you the grace you need to be patient so that He can bless you with the best.
