Local Organization kicks off the 2023 Great American Cleanup, Keep America Beautiful’s Signature Beautification Event
St. Petersburg, FL (Tuesday, February 28, 2023)– Keep Pinellas Beautiful, your local Keep America Beautiful affiliate, is introducing our 2023 Great America Cleanup (GAC) with a press conference/cleanup event entitled, “Leaders Against Litter”. This cleanup will showcase our community leaders and elected officials “leading the way” in our charge against litter. Attending leaders will include, County Commissioner Charlie Justice and KPB Executive Director, Patricia DePlasco.
The purpose of this initiative is to raise awareness about how Florida’s pervasive litter problem affects communities by inviting community leaders to observe the problem first-hand by cleaning up a local site and educating participants about the direct and indirect costs and damage caused by litter. Keeping Florida beautiful is a civic responsibility that rests equally on all of our shoulders.
After a brief morning clean up, we will ask all attendees to make a public commitment by pledging to:
SPEAK UP and spread the word that litter is not acceptable in Pinellas County.
PICK UP litter whenever you see it.
STAND UP and lead the way for a litter-free Pinellas County
WHEN: Friday, March 3, 2023
WHERE: South Gandy Beach, 13090 Gandy Blvd N, St. Petersburg
TIME: Registration at 8:00 AM, Presentations begin at 8:15 AM
