Hi! My name is Harley, and I write monthly articles for this newspaper. This month’s topic is the Ark Encounter in Kentucky. We recently traveled there in March, and I want to tell you all about it.
The Ark Encounter was built by Answers in Genesis, which also created the Creation Museum. The Ark has numerous facts, shows, and exhibits depicting the Pre-Flood world and life on the ark. The life-size Ark was built according to the dimensions God gave Noah in Genesis. It has three decks. They offer question books with answers about the ark and a “see what you can find” book. There are many things to learn in this family-friendly experience.
One of the things I learned was that each family member had about 850 animals to care for each and every day. Talk about chores!
Another interesting fact was how they sustained food. They had barrels and an indoor garden! God told them to build windows, so they had sunlight inside.
Lastly were the many rooms for the families. There were living rooms, bedrooms, and rooms galore! When you’re Noah, with a wife and three sons and daughters-in-law, you need a big boat.
Noah and his family had to stay on the ark for a total of almost a year, including rain for forty days and nights. It took him about 120 years to build the ark, all the while with people laughing at him and scoffing. But Noah had faith. That makes our problems seem insignificant, doesn’t it?
