The turning over to a new year opens up the door to reflect on what we would like different in our lives in 2022, whether one believes in setting resolutions or not. If we don’t take the time to think about how to improve in our lives, one year can quickly turn into a decade later and we wonder why we are still stuck in certain areas.
The one thing I’ve been thinking about for this coming year is asking the question, “What does God want for my life? Where does He want me investing my time?” For He is the one who created us to be living during this period of time. That is why it’s so important to not only plan for our future but make sure we pray about and ask the one who created us what that entails.
I know things have been difficult beyond measure, but there is a thread that has run through the fabric of life that when I experience this, it creates a more beautiful tapestry. And that is to trust that God has a plan for all things and just like the Bible says in Genesis 50:20, when Joseph was betrayed by his brothers that the betrayal that was meant for harm, God used for good.
Part of improving in the next year of our life is to learn from the difficulties of the past but not take the pain into the future with us.
Just like nobody could have predicted where the last year would have gone, nor do we know what this world will be like this next year. What we can focus on is that getting stronger mentally, physically, and spiritually can help us have a better chance of taking our lives to the next level, regardless of what happens around us.
To improve in any area, consider asking yourself some more deep questions like, “What can I learn from last year that I can improve upon this year?”
And if you want to improve on something specific ask, “Who has already accomplished it?’ Jesus!
“I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.” —Philippians 3:8
