Hi! My name is Harley and today on this fine spring day in May, I present to you today’s topic. April Fools Day. And yes, it is May, but I talked about something else then. So the origin of April Fools is this:
Once upon a time five centuries ago, they changed the new year from April to January. Some people didn’t know that they had changed the calendar, so they were called April fools. Since then, people have played many a prank on others. Just to name a few:
Once upon a time in 1957, the radio said Swiss people were having quite a crop of spaghetti and featured people picking the delicious stuff off trees. Once upon a time in 1998, Burger King sold a fake sandwich.
And once, someone pranked America by saying he was running for president. There are three types of jokes. The joke that helps you learn a lesson, a mean prank, and a plain fun joke. The spaghetti crop was plain fun. The sandwich wasn’t very nice. And I don’t think the president thing was very good.
Jokes should never be mean. Our April Fools prank this year was promising Ms. Katie brownies. More like brown Es. We printed out a sheet of brown Es and put them in a pan with a Bible. It was awesome. My ma doesn’t really like doing pranks, but this one was fine according to her.
It’s okay to play fun jokes sometimes, but you don’t want to hurt anybody’s feelings. Jesus said that we should love everybody, and we don’t want to make them mad by doing a bad prank.
Nobody’s going to come to know Jesus if we’re mean. We need to be Christlike so people can come to know Jesus. See you next month!
