Memorial Hospital of Tampa recently held a “Meet the Mako” event to introduce the latest addition to their Robotic Institute. Members of the Stryker Corporation, manufacturers of the Mako, were at the hospital offering hands-on demonstrations of the robotic equipment to staff and the public.
In November 2018, Memorial Hospital of Tampa acquired the Mako Robotic-Arm Assisted Surgery System. Scott Goldsmith, MD, performed the first procedure. The Mako provides accuracy and precision for hip and knee replacement, creating a better surgical experience for patients and physicians. This technique is minimally invasive and can reduce pain, shorten recovery, and produce better recovery for patients compared to traditional hip and knee replacements.
