Jesus expects Christians to “Fear not, only believe.” And then receive miracles.
Many Christians have the false notion that Jesus performed the great miracles that He did because He was the Son of God. Yes, He definitely was and still is the Son of God, but He didn’t perform the miracles through His deity, but as the anointed Son of man. The anointing of the Holy Spirit that was given to Him without measure is what made Him the Messiah, or in the Greek language, the Christ.
The second person of the Godhead, the Word as He is identified in John 1:1 and John 1:14, took on human flesh, born of a woman, and learned from the Old Testament writings that He was God’s Son by the age of 12 when He was found lingering in the Temple in Jerusalem, and told Mary and Joseph that He had to be about His Father’s business.
The Apostle Paul tells us in Philippians 2:6-8, “who being in the form of God, did not consider robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. He never used His deity in ministry, but only stepped out into his high priestly role after He was baptized in water by John the Baptist and the Holy Spirit came upon Him to empower Him as the Anointed One, or anointed Son of man.
Jesus Himself said in John 5:19, “Most assuredly, I say to you, “the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son does in like manner.” In other words, Jesus perfected the walk in the Spirit, where He was in constant communication with the Father, and upon each instance that He came upon, He only said what He heard the Father say, and He only did what He saw the Father do. The Father did the miracles through Jesus, by the power of the Holy Spirit, as Jesus yielded His complete will to the Father.
This gives us a major understanding of how the miracles of Jesus happened. He had to hear from the Father first, do or say whatever the Father said, then wait for Him to perform the miracle. That is still the way miracles happen today. The only difference is that Jesus in now the King of Kings, and Lord of Lords. He sits in complete dominion of life itself. Now, we need to hear from Him or the Father, do or say whatever they say, and wait for them to perform the miracle by the power of the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.
The only problem is that we have to believe. Some people that started reading this short article, put it down and went on to something else because they have been brainwashed by the enemy to believe that miracles ceased when the Apostles of the Lamb and the founding Apostles died. Nothing could be further from the truth. For those who have stayed with me to this point, be greatly encouraged by how simple faith comes. It is a choice, based on God’s argument in His word. Chose to believe Him, and faith comes alive. One enemy to faith that is also a choice is fear.
Jesus expects us to stop the fear. He spoke to the ruler of the synagogue in Capernaum, Jairus, when he was told not to bother the Teacher any further because his daughter was dead. He said Him in Mark 5:36, “Fear not, only believe.” One translation says, “Stop the fear, only believe.” Jesus must have heard the Father in Heaven give the instructions, because as He acted on the Father’s directions, and Jairus’ daughter was raised from the dead.
Another man brought his demon-possessed son to Jesus. The demon caused the son not be able to speak and to have convulsions that caused him to fall into the water or into the fire. This demon was obviously trying to kill the son. The man cried out to Jesus in Mark 9:22, “If you can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.”
Jesus answered and said, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”
This must have inspired the man, at the same time he realized that he needed more help. He responded by saying, “Lord, I believe. Help my unbelief.”
Jesus must have heard the Father in Heaven to give great grace to the man for his faith, and his honesty about his lack of faith, because, Jesus immediately cast the spirit out of the young man, and he was permanently set free.
I leave you with these two major keys in receiving any miracle from God, and in all honesty, everyone needs some miracles. Stop the fear, only believe. If you can believe, all things are possible to those who believe.
